25 years of Narayanhiti massacre, that mysterious day in history

Kathmandu. Today, it has been 25 years since the Narayanhiti Darbar massacre, which is one of the most tragic and mysterious events in the history of Nepal. The 25th Memorial Day is being celebrated in different places of the country today in memory of this historic day when former King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah and his entire family were killed.

On Friday 19th June 2058, this unimaginable incident happened unexpectedly during a regular family feast organized inside Narayanhiti Rajdarbar. In the indiscriminate firing that took place on that night, the then King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya, Adhirajkumar Neerajan, Adhirajkumari Shruti, other members of the royal family including Shanti, Shraddha, Jayanti and Shraddha's husband Kumar Khadgavikram Shah were brutally murdered.
