1,816 Squatter Families in Contact with the Government

Kathmandu: A total of 1,816 squatter families in the Kathmandu Valley have come into contact with the government. Following the government’s move to remove illegal structures along the banks of the Bagmati and its tributary rivers in the Kathmandu Valley, 1,816 squatter families have so far reached out to the government.

According to the secretariat of Prime Minister Balen Shah, 7,789 citizens have submitted details claiming to be squatters during the process of clearing risky public land. Of those who came into contact, 794 people have already been transferred to various holding centers designated by the government, while other individuals who reached the screening center at Dasharath Stadium have left, saying they will arrange accommodation on their own for the time being.
