166 entities allowed to mine 16 types of minerals

Kathmandu. The Department of Mines and Geology has granted permission for the mining of 16 different types of minerals. According to the department, permission was given with the aim of supporting industrial production and economic growth by developing the mineral industry through the exploration of mineral resources in the country.

Until the last financial year, the department has given permission for mining minerals including tourmaline, talc, quartz, kyanite, marble, iron, zinc, quartzite, magnesite, dolomite and copper. Information Officer Narayan Baskota informed that 166 organizations, including private and international companies registered in the country, have been granted licenses after studying the mining proposal and completed the necessary procedures.

The department has stated that when granting mining permits, the environmental impact will be minimal, revenue will be collected according to the production, and the conditions will be determined so that the local community will benefit.
