16 killed, dozens injured in chemical warehouse fire in Bangladesh
Agency. Sixteen people have died after a fire broke out at a textile factory and a nearby chemical warehouse in northern Dhaka, Bangladesh.
It is reported that dozens were injured in the same incident. Tajul Islam Chaudhary, director of the fire department, said that the cause of the fire is not yet known, mentioning that the death toll may increase.
Director Chaudhary said that the bodies of 16 people were found on the second and third floors of the textile factory and the number of dead is expected to increase as the search continues. Citing eyewitnesses, civil security officials said that the fire started from a factory in Mirpur, a northern area of Dhaka, and spread to a nearby chemical warehouse.
