15 days left for election, Commission requests not to misuse technology
Kathmandu. The Election Commission has drawn the attention of all concerned to be serious in this regard as there is a risk that misuse of technology can destroy the fairness of the election. The Commission has also requested the relevant parties including the mass media to play a supportive role and not to spread false information on social media.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari requested not to put misleading content created using 'Artificial Intelligence' 9AI0 on social media and to make elections fair. He also asked the media not to publish the results of the election polls.
He said, "Some of the recent practices, in which the polls are conducted to estimate the victory or defeat based on the conversations of the voters before the polling, and the results are made public. The commission has drawn serious attention to that."
The Commission has requested that candidates should not act to discourage the candidates and disturb the atmosphere of competition by declaring the results in advance, as the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 may confuse the independent decision of the voter. With the rapid development of technology, the Commission has been specially requesting that misleading content created using AI should not be disseminated on social media and should play a supporting role.
