121 dead due to rain and storm in Afghanistan and Pakistan
Kathmandu. At least 121 people have died due to heavy rains and storms in Afghanistan and Pakistan over a two-week period, disaster management officials in both countries said on Saturday. Since the end of March, Afghanistan has been hit by storms and rains, causing floods, landslides and damage to homes and crops.
Floods and rains have killed 77 people and injured 137 others across the country since March 26, Mohammad Yusuf Hammad, spokesman for Afghanistan's disaster management authority ANDMA, told AFP on Saturday. According to the spokesperson Hammad, 26 people have died and 48 people have been injured due to floods, landslides and lightning across the country in the past 48 hours.
