In Kathmandu, Indian citizens held Indians hostage and demanded ransom
Kathmandu. Two people who tried to hold an Indian citizen hostage in Nepal and collect ransom have been arrested. On the pretext of sending the youth to Australia, the police have arrested two people from India on the charge of calling the young man to Kathmandu and taking him hostage and demanding a ransom of 20 lakhs to 32 lakh rupees.
According to the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, on October 29, Parampreet Singh, aged 24, and Lovepreet Singh, aged 28, residing in Sector 65, Face 11, Mahli Police Station, Chandigarh, Punjab State, India, took hostage Ankit Kumar, aged 26, residing in Haryana, India. It has been revealed in the police investigation that Ankit was held hostage in Kathmandu and demanded a ransom of 20 lakhs in Indian cash, saying that he would send Ankit to Australia via Nepal.
